Cubs Acquire Infielder Isaac Paredes from Rays

Paredes Coming Off a Breakout Season in Tampa Bay

Paredes Currently Having Another Solid Year with the Rays

The Chicago Cubs have acquired infielder Isaac Paredes from the Tampa Bay Rays, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Paredes, 23, is a switch-hitter who can play first base, second base, and third base. He is coming off a breakout season in which he hit .247 with 26 home runs and 73 RBIs in 144 games.

Paredes has continued to perform well this season, hitting .199 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs in 99 games. He is currently leading the Rays in home runs. Paredes is under team control through 2028, so the Cubs are getting a young player with a lot of potential.

The Cubs have been struggling this season, sitting at 44-62 and in last place in the NL Central. They are hoping that Paredes can help provide some power to their lineup. Paredes is a good hitter with power and a good eye at the plate. He should be a valuable addition to the Cubs' lineup.
